These are opinion pieces, essays and analysis. They make up the bulk of our content. If your submission fulfils the following criteria, please submit it in the form below under the Article category:

  • Must be 500 words or more.
  • It must cover an economic, political, or social topic, preferably in the South African or African context – although international submissions may also be accepted.
  • It must be in clear and understandable English, and be properly formatted with appropriate paragraph breaks.

Submit a Remark

We all have something to say but not necessarily enough time to say it. Rational Remarks are designed for people who want to share short ideas or comment on politics and other issues concisely. If you want to submit a Rational Remark, please fulfil the following criteria and categorise the submission appropriately:

  • It must be between 100 and 400 words in length.
  • It must be in clear and understandable English, and be properly formatted with appropriate paragraph breaks.
  • The content must have a freedom bias – in other words, it must generally favor individual rights rather than the interests of the State, favor reason rather than emotion, and favor liberty rather than control.

Submit News

News articles are short reports and brief analysis of current events. They are not meant to make too many value judgements and rather report the concrete facts. News reports must meet the following criteria and be categorised as such:

  • It must be a minimum of 300 words.
  • It must be in clear and understandable English, and be properly formatted with appropriate paragraph breaks.
  • The content must be fact checked, non-sensationalist and accurate.
  • The content must be timely and newsworthy. (Libertarian event reports are allowed)

Please hyperlink all web sources to the respective word or phrase that needs citing. All non-web or general sources should be listed below a subheading called References at the end of the article.

Tips

  • The best length for an article is 500-800 words. Otherwise, they will take too long to edit and most readers will only skim the article.
  • Keep your titles simple and literal. Creative titles can be fun, but don’t get good views. We will change inappropriate titles.
